Keywest Projects Ltd. is an employee-owned EPCM firm based in Calgary, Alberta. We deliver comprehensive engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) solutions to the energy industry, specializing in oil & gas, power generation, and infrastructure projects.  Since 2009, we've been delivering innovative and cost-effective solutions in energy development projects ranging from project management and engineering design to construction support and regulatory compliance—ensuring safe, efficient project execution from concept to commissioning.

Responsibilities

The Director, Finance is a senior leadership position reporting to the President & EVP, Corporate. This role provides executive leadership for all financial and accounting functions within Keywest Projects, ensuring financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and long-term corporate sustainability.

 

Specific Duties that may include but not limited to:

 

Financial Leadership & Governance

  • Provide executive leadership for all finance/accounting functions.

  • Oversee corporate reporting, payroll, tax filings, treasury, customer invoices, customer credit checks and financial compliance.

  • Deliver accurate and timely month-end, quarterly, and annual reporting packages for leadership and the Board.

  • Act as the primary point of contact and liaison with the Company’s external accountant to provide all necessary financial records, data, schedules, support and explanations for tax compliance and review engagement purposes.

  • Act as a liaison with the Company’s bank.

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and corporate governance requirements.

 

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Lead corporate budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.

  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support executive decision-making.

  • Deliver KPI dashboards and trend reports to inform leadership strategies.

 

Commercial & Strategic Support

  • Support commercial negotiations, risk assessments, and contract terms.

  • Provide decision support for corporate partnerships and strategic initiatives.

  • Coordination with external legal counsel on contracts, compliance, and corporate risk management.

 

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and mentor the finance team, ensuring high-quality execution of accounting and financial processes.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust financial controls, polices, and procedures to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity.

  • Build team capacity and professional development opportunities.

  • Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, tools, and workflows

 

General Duties:

  • Track, report, and submit all weekly timesheets.

  • General assistance with the day-to-day activities of Keywest Projects.

  • Involvement in review and organizational meetings as required.

  • Effective written and verbal communications, including presentations (virtual and in-person).

  • Act as a partner in your development by identifying training opportunities and publications, digital publications or Social Media posts that would contribute to the knowledge base of the organization in your area of expertise.

  • Identify to management areas of improvement both personally and professionally that would be to the betterment of all.

  • Offer assistance to projects and employees on an as needed basis.

  • Responsible for implementing change and acting as a change manager/agent.

  • Ensure all work is following governing codes and industry standards.

  • Demonstrate an understanding and positive attitude of Keywest’s Health and Safety Policy.

  • Participate in Lunch and Learns promoting knowledge sharing.

  • Ensure that day-to-day business complies with Keywest and industry’s best practices.

Qualifications

Specific Qualifications that may include but are not limited to:

  • Degree or Business, Finance, Accounting, or Economics, or equivalent practical experience

  • CPA designation (CA, CMA, CGA) preferred.

  • In a management or senior leadership role for a minimum of 5 years

  • Minimum of 5 years working with management or senior leadership on finance or accounting

  • Minimum of 15 years of related industry experience

  • Strategic thinking, strong troubleshooting skills including analysis of complex systems

  • Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and management skills

  • Strong understanding of taxes, business operations, and compliance
